TRAINING SCHEDULE 2019

Switbee Classes  caters to the needs of cake makers and decorators from beginners to intermediate. To participate in these classes you are expected to pay 50% of the price to secure your seat and complete your payment at least a week to the class. More details about each class would be available on our website www.switbeecakes.com.

FONDANT CLASS

BEGINNERS CLASS

From baking of 6 amazing cake recipes, to decorating with fondant and butter icing.

2nd – 13th September 2019 10a.m – 5.00pm N50,000.00
FLOWER CLASS

Finally get to set your cakes apart by making intricate beautiful sugar flowers.

23rd – 25th September 2019 10a.m – 5.00pm N25,000.00
ADVANCED CLASS 2

Hands on training, Contemporary Wedding cakes, perfect dowelling, flowers and arrangement, pastillage and many other techniques.

DETAILS ABOUT OUR CLASSES

FONDANT CLASS

The fondant class is a one week class. We would bake fresh cakes for you to cover, but you will be coming with other ingredients which are:

  • icing sugar, gelatine, glucose, CMC, cornflour
  • margarine

If you have any of these tools, you can also come with them, but it is not compulsory

  • Rolling pin, Turn table. metal spatular ,cake trimmer, smoothers

WHAT YOU WOULD BE LEARNING

You'll be learning how to arrange straight cakes in preparation for covering.
How to cover cakes using the panel method and the blanket method.
How to give your cake a perfect sharp edge.

You'll be learning simple but pretty methods of decorating your fondant cakes.

The surprise effect
And the Umbre Effect

You'll be learning How to make 5 differnet beautiful ruffles
and how to make pretty bows

ADVANCED CLASS

Note that the advanced class is not for beginners. You must be a baker and must be conversant with fondant cake decoration. This class is not for you if you are only good with butter icing decoration.

You would be learning:

  • How to make a contemporary wedding cake.
  • How to make at least 2 major flowers
  • How to stack, trim and dowel your cakes perfectly.
  • And many more professional techniques used on fondant.

BEGINNERS CLASS

Our beginners class includes everything within the fondant class plus decorating using butter icing and baking 6 different types of cakes:

  • Vanilla
  • Strawberry
  • Coconut
  • Chocolate
  • Redvelvet
  • Chocolate
  • Banana

All ingredients would be brought by the students (Compulsory). If you have tools, you can bring them but it is not compulsory. A list would be given to you after payment for the ingredients to be purchased.

FLOWER CLASS

For the flower class, you would be required to bring a few things. The list would be given to you after payment.

You would be learning how to make ;

Roses, Peony, Ranunculus, filler flowers and more. Flower arrangement.

GENERAL CLASS

The general class is for at most 3months. It is N65,000. You can join at anytime. We would be working on the customers cakes together. The timing is flexible, you wouldnt have to be at the shop everyday, but the more often you come, the faster you learn. The shop opens from 9am to 5.30pm, Mondays to Saturdays.

You would learn how to make at least 6 different types of cakes (vanilla, coconut, strawberry, chocolate, redvelvet and banana cakes)

You would learn how to decorate using fondant, butter icing and whipped cream.
